Get back to your sport stronger and more resilient than before your injury. Programs built around your sport, your position, and your return timeline.

Sports rehabilitation is recovery designed with your sport in mind. It is not generic exercise. It is a program built around your position, your demands, and the specific movements that your sport requires. An athlete with a shoulder injury needs different work than a runner with a knee injury, and our programs reflect that. We assess not just how you move in the clinic, but how you need to move on the field or court. Then we progressively rebuild strength, power, and confidence so you return not just cleared to play, but ready to compete at the level you expect. Sports rehab uses sport-specific drills, agility work, and sport movement patterns to bridge the gap between basic strength recovery and true return to performance. This gap is exactly where a lot of athletes get stuck, cleared by imaging or a doctor's note but still unsure their body will actually hold up under game speed.
The focus is durability. We do not just rehabilitate the injured area, we strengthen the whole movement system and teach the patterns that keep old injuries from coming back the moment you step back into competition. That whole-system view matters because an injury in one joint often traces back to a weakness or imbalance somewhere else entirely, and ignoring that connection is how the same injury ends up happening twice. Two of our clinicians build their practice around this work. Dr. Alanna Kubik works with dancers, figure skaters and hockey players on injury prevention and return to sport, and she is a certified U.S. Figure Skating coach and SafeSport certified. Dr. Brittney Mulligan focuses her practice on athletes and runners.
Sports rehab is for any athlete recovering from injury and wanting to return stronger. If your sport matters to you, your recovery should be built around it. You do not need a physician referral to start, either. Massachusetts has direct access to physical therapy, so you can book an evaluation with us directly and lose no time in your season. Some insurance plans still require a referral for coverage, so we verify your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly where you stand.
A ligament, a muscle, or a joint gave out during play. Sports rehab rebuilds the specific strength and movement control you need to compete again without fear of reinjury. The goal is never just getting back on the field, it is getting back with the same confidence you had before it happened.
You have been cleared medically but do not feel ready. Sports rehab takes you from cleared to confident, teaching the power and agility your sport demands. That gap between medically cleared and mentally ready is real, and closing it is a core part of the work.
You want to play at a high level and stay healthy. Sports rehab strengthens the weak links and corrects the movement patterns that set up injury. Fixing these patterns before they cause a problem is far easier than rehabbing after the fact.
Sports rehab sessions are dynamic and progressive, moving from basic strength toward sport-specific power and agility as you heal. Each one runs 30 to 60 minutes, one on one with your doctor of physical therapy, and the first visit is a full hands-on evaluation.
You tell us your sport, your position, and what you need to do in that role. We assess your current strength and movement, then build a program that maps to your return timeline. This is where we set realistic milestones so you always know where you stand.
Early sessions focus on regaining basic strength and mobility. As you improve, the work becomes more sport-specific. You perform drills that mimic the demands of your sport. Each phase only begins once you have earned it, not on a fixed calendar.
Before you get back to competition, we test your strength, agility, and movement patterns to confirm you are ready. You leave with a plan to maintain gains when you return to play. That final test gives you something a doctor's note alone cannot, real evidence your body is ready. Most patients notice improvement within about six visits, and a typical plan of care runs two to three visits a week for four to six weeks before you reach this stage.
Bring a description of your sport or a video clip of your position in action. The more detail we have about the movements you need to perform, the more targeted we can make your program. Even a brief note about your competition schedule helps us plan your timeline more precisely. On cost, we accept Aetna, ASHLink, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Fallon Health, Harvard Pilgrim, Mass General Brigham Health Plan, Medicare and Tricare, along with Workers' Compensation and auto injury claims. We check your benefits first and give you your copay and visit limits in writing, and flat self-pay rates are available if you are not covered.
